Notes from 2017-07-13 MobileGR Commision Meeting

• Sponsorship of the Hispanic Festival.
  • An outreach effort at the Hispanic Festival will be used to improve the results of the transit stop survey.
  • So far there has only been a 7% response rate to the survery from the Hispanic and Latino community whereas they make of 15% of transit ridership.
• Sponsorship of ArtPrize approved, not to exceed $65K
  • This year's ArtPrize will include a 2 day African American Art & Music Celebration [AAAMC] in Calder Plaza on the opening weekend of ArtPrize. This activity will increase the diversity of ArtPrize.
  • Some weekend DASH service during ArtPrize on particular days.
  • Some of the sponsorship of ArtPrize will return to the DASH program.
  • A shuttle to/from the Roosevelt Park Exhibits on October 1st.
• The new DASH buses will officially be unveiled on July24th @ 2PM, 6th Street Park. This is a public event.
  • This is 21 new new CNG powered buses; these buses are larger than current DASH buses and feature a mid-rear door to expedite performance at stops.
  • Commissioner Singleton mentioned that during peak periods current DASH buses are at capacity.
    • Commissioner Varga indicated the agreement concerning the No Fare Zone was about to expire and has been extended until the commision can revisit the agreement.
  • Between January and June a ~73% increase in ridership on that segment of the route; and increase from ~9,000 rides a day to ~15,000 rides a day.
  • The RAPID is ready to move forward with another one year extension of the program if the city so chooses.
